SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE - DISTRICT 48

Brandon Guffey is a dedicated public servant and advocate, currently representing District 48 in the South Carolina House of Representatives. His career in public  service began as a York County Councilman, following years of success as an entrepreneur and small business owner in the service and retail sectors. With early
roots in advertising, Guffey has long been a vocal leader on pressing social and legislative issues.
In addition to his legislative role, Representative Guffey serves as the Senior
Executive Advisor for Cyber Dive and as Director of Less Than 3 (<3), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to youth mental health and suicide prevention. Guffey's advocacy is deeply personal. In July 2022, he lost his oldest son, Gavin, to suicide following a sextortion crime. In response, he entered the state legislature to
drive meaningful change and protect other families from similar tragedies. Elected  to the South Carolina House in November 2022, he introduced and passed Gavin’s Law (H3583)—a landmark bill that increases penalties for sextortion and mandates awareness through school notification programs. The bill was signed into law in
August 2023.
Representative Guffey has since emerged as a national and international voice on  online child exploitation, mental health, and digital safety. In 2025, he testified  before the U.S. Congress and the World Court in Berlin, and participated in round table discussions with First Lady Melania Trump and in the signing of the “Take It Down” act. He has also appeared on major investigative platforms in Paris, London, Rome, and Australia.
A highly sought-after speaker, Guffey travels the country delivering keynote  addresses and advocating for youth protection legislation. He was named “Legislator of the Year” by both the South Carolina Counseling Association (2023)
and the South Carolina GOP (2025). His compelling story has been featured on Dr.  Phil, ABC, Fox News, Newsmax, CNN, and Trafficked on Nat Geo. In 2024, he was a featured guest of Chris Hansen at CrimeCon.
Through his work, Representative Guffey continues to lead efforts in safeguarding
children, promoting mental health awareness, and reforming laws to reflect the
modern digital threats facing today’s youth
